Mission Statement
During TechnO-Week, we will be prioritizing inclusivity, active engagement, and fun for each New Student. We want every new Martelian to feel welcome in this club because each DJ deserves their time in the strobe lights. Everyone approaches mixing beats with their own style, and we aim to highlight each DJ’s unique expression and experiences. We believe our differences should be celebrated and acknowledge the strength that our diverse perspectives bring to both Martel and the broader Rice community. Here at Club Martel, we aim to help every DJ to feel synthesized with their class and match tempo with the culture of Rice University.
Club Martel will strive to host a space where everyone can feel confident in themselves. Simultaneously, we emphasize the importance of mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing so every student can turn up the volume and never get stuck in a trance. We hope for every DJ to sample the different beats of Rice’s unique tracks and add their favorites to the queue. To get the turntables ready for the academic semester, we will prepare students to succeed with no spinbacks.
We welcome everyone to Club Martel and can’t wait to see the playlist our New Students create during their time at Rice. Remember, we hold space for every beat drop in this house.
